Now that December is here, we think it is finally acceptable to start talking about presents! This year, what with running around wrapping up all of our Winter Fairytales boxes (there are still a couple available FYI) and planning lots of exciting things for 2018, when it comes to gift buying, we are all about organisation! That’s why we thought we’d give you a bit of a head start and share with you some of the things that we have on our shopping (and wish) lists…
For the lovers of pretty things: Fox and Lilly– We are huge fans of Laura’s etsy shop and we can’t get enough of her cute home decor gifts, in fact you might well recognise her little hanging banners, as she made an exclusive one for our Belles and Beasts box way back in April. We’d love to find one of the little ceramic ring dishes in our stockings and how cute are the ring cones? Big hints to any of my family members out there reading this!
For the stationery enthusiast: Papergang. Kate was lucky enough to receive a subscription to Papergang last year and I have been very jealous of her monthly parcels, because who doesn’t like receiving things in the post? Our love of fun parcels in the post is one of the main reasons we set up a subscription box – we really appreciate a good surprise. Papergang is the ultimate gift for the lover of stylish stationery, if you know someone who gets overexcited at the sight of a beautifully designed notebook, or has a secret hoard of greetings cards that they’ll probably never give away, they’re guaranteed to adore this box
For the tea drinker: Bluebird Tea. Here at Book Box Club HQ we always have a cup of herbal tea on the go. We love that The Bluebird Tea company is a small business that started in the owner’s bedroom and has grown to include multiple retail units and a thriving online shop. They have amazing customer service and some great tea flavours. Check out their Christmas gift ideas including a personalised Tea Christmas Cracker!
For the Harry Potter fan: AWoodworkersSon. Get the Potterhead in your life their own magic wand from Melksham’s very own Ollivandar! Handmade by Kate’s very talented other half, these wands are all individually crafted and each one is completely unique. Some very lucky Book Box Club wizards may have received one of these as a competition prize in our May Wizards at War box in May this year! Who doesn’t want a little bit of magic over Christmas?
For the creative types: A craft workshop. Here at Book Box Club we love a bit of craft, and both of us have indulged in some craft workshops over the past year (and created masterpieces and monstrosities in equal measure). Whether your “giftee” fancies a day of sculpting pots out of clay or meticulously felting a tiny blue tit whilst chatting and eating cake there are so many amazing craft short courses and taster days out there. It may take a little research to find out what is going on in your area, but we are big fans of The Makery in Bath (and now London) for all crafting involving fabrics and thread (we had a blast decorating some pants there a few years ago!). If not, check out your local arts centres and colleges to see if taster workshops are something they offer.
For the foodie: Cheese Posties. This UK based subscription business sends you cheese toasties… through the post! There is a new flavour combination each time and all the ingredients that you need including a special toasting sachet are included. My friend has one of these subscriptions show up at her desk where she works and it just sounds like the best thing ever! I’m hungry just thinking about it! It is also very reasonably priced, head over to their website to check out the different options available.
For the unashamedly bookish: a Book Box Club Subscription (of course!).
If you would like to buy a Book Box Club membership for a present here is what you need to know.
If you’d like to buy a box to give on Christmas say you’ll need to purchase our December Winter Fairytales box. This box is on sale now and contains not one, but two brilliant books.
Our featured reads for December are the first two parts in a historical fantasy series, about a misunderstood heroine who can see creatures that others are blind to. The first book is a paperback that was published late this year and the second is a stunning hardback, not due for release in the UK until late January 2018 – which means our members will get to read this book nearly a month in advance. There’ll also be an illustrated item from the very talented TJ Lubrano and lots of surprise goodies themed around some of our favourite fairytales. This month’s bookish swag will include: something useful, something to wear, something stylish and something delicious! AND of course no Book Box Club box would be complete without that all important book group invite. We’ll meet the author of our featured reads in our cosy online Clubhouse in February 2018, when you’ll be able to ask her all of your questions about her brilliant books. We can’t 100% guarantee that all December boxes will reach our members by Christmas day, so we’ll be on hand to provide e-vouchers for anyone still awaiting their box on Christmas eve.
We have a very limited number of Winter Fairytales boxes left, so if you’d like to treat someone to this box (or snap one up for yourself), you’ll need to head over to our website swiftly and subscribe!
If you miss out on our December box, don’t panic! Our January boxes will go on sale as soon as December sells out (make sure you check our website homepage to see which box is currently on sale) and we’ll reveal the theme for January THIS THURSDAY (7th December). January boxes will be posted around January 15th. The great news is, if you purchase a January box as a gift, but you’d like a little something to hand over on Christmas day, you can request an e-voucher at the checkout and we’ll send you a printable card telling your bookish loved one all about their gift. We’re keeping our January theme under wraps for a few more days, but we can promise you that the book is an absolute CRACKER (sorry for Christmassy pun!).
Don’t forget there is now a new way to join our club! Our Purely Books subscriptions offer the same great reads that we send to our Book Box Club members and an invitation to the same brilliant book online book group – where you can meet the authors of our featured reads. The only difference is that Purely Books parcels come without the added bookish goodies, so if you (or your bookish buddy) are all about the books and would prefer a more streamlined parcel this could be the perfect subscription! Purely Books parcels have the same posting dates as Book Box Club parcels and e-vouchers will also be available for any last minute shoppers or gift givers still awaiting their delivery come Christmas eve.
If you are hoping that someone else will buy you a present of a Book Box Club subscription then let us help you out! Give us a few details and we’ll send an unsubtle hint to a person of your choice to help persuade them to treat you to one of our unashamedly bookish memberships this Christmas! Don’t worry guys, we have your back!
What presents will you be buying this year? We’d love to hear what is on your lists because I still have a few secret Santa presents to buys and I’m all out of ideas! We are heading back to the wrapping table now for a book wrapping marathon whilst listening to festive music. Just think of us as your happy little Book Box Club elves!
Have a lovely festive weekend everyone!
