Freedom Squad Unboxed

Greetings lovely book lovers,

As we excitedly prepare to wrap and pack your Secrets & Sisterhood November boxes (there are still a couple available for purchase if you are quick!) we thought that now would be a great time to reminisce about our October box.

One thing you will soon learn about Kate and I is that we like to reminisce about the very recent past. It would not be weird for us to say things like, “remember the time we ate that amazing pizza?” “You mean last night?”. The same is true with our Freedom Squad box. Getting ready to send those boxes out seems like a very happy memory now and one we are only too pleased to recap on.

We are so thrilled that so many of you enjoyed your Freedom Squad unboxing. Thank you so much to all of you who Instagrammed/Tweeted/blogged and vlogged about them, it means so much to us to get the chance to see you all enjoying the boxes that we’ve spent so long putting together and we truly love seeing each and every post!

Freedom Squad Unboxed

Thanks to @bookishaddicted for this gorgeous unboxing picture.

* The Hypnotist by Laurence Anholt: Set in the Deep South of the American 1960’s, a black orphan boy, a mute Native American servant girl and an Irish Neurology professor are an unlikely squad. In a society overwhelmed by prejudice, they must employ all of their courage, cunning and wit to free themselves from their oppressors.

* I Have a Dream-catcher by DIY Blonde: A gorgeous turquoise web inspired by The Hypnotist and created exclusively for Book Box Club by ITV’s craft expert and Vlogger/Blogger DIY Blonde.

* Brooch by Lucie-Ellen: An unashamedly bookish handmade pin by one of our favourite young British jewellery designers, Lucie Ellen of East London.

*Elias Candle by Meraki Candles: A fiery, spicy candle created by Edinburgh based literary candle wizards Meraki Candles, in celebration of everyone’s favourite rebellious soldier, Elias Veturius from An Ember in the Ashes.

*Fire is Catching print by Always Yesterday: a typographic print inspired by Katniss from The Hunger Games.

*Book Squad Magnet by Book Box Club: A squad member magnet to proudly display bookishness!

*Other bookish goodies including a Shadowhunters tote bag and promotional bookmarks and postcards from our friends at Simon & Schuster, Bloomsbury and Walker Books.

We really enjoyed putting this box together and we got to work with so many talented people along the way. Laurence’s book was the perfect inspiration and we can’t wait for everyone to read it so that we can start discussing it in our members-only Clubhouse meeting. October members, remember to jot down any burning questions for Laurence about The Hypnotist, I know I have loads already and I think Kate and I could discuss this one for hours so please head over to the Reading Room and help us build our board of questions, or risk us rambling on!

We only have a few November Secrets & Sisterhood boxes left so if you had your heart set on getting one head over to our website now and subscribe before we sell the last one!  We have some really exciting stuff planned and the book is a brand new YA thriller with one of the twisty-est shock endings I’ve read!

Have a lovely autumnal weekend!

Love, Libby and Kate  xx
